We profoundly mourn the loss of our faculty, staff and students…
A dedicated public servant and avid dance enthusiast, Angela brought life and love to the steppers set from the first moment she came to our set at the Harlem L Lounge on 114th Street. Her active presence and encouraging voice was truly felt during our emerging years and she will be forever missed.
Reggie was an original New York steppin’ leader and friend who helped establish and teach the dance to many in the Big Apple. He was a hard working person and you didn’t always see him out at the set, but if you did, you knew it was time to get busy! Rest in Power.
100% supportive, always on the dance floor, always around with a beautiful greeting, warm smile, and friendly vibe. She loved to dance! She also encouraged many of her friends to come out and we will miss her.
A mentor and friend to so many in the African-American community in the NYC metro area, Shaka’s enthusiasm toward Chicago Style Steppin’ was special. Always determined to learn and grow, Shaka was a man who sparked creativity and fun energy at the set. His presence on and off the dance floor will be missed.
